Blue
Jack McKeag (Blue) is a 2001 true Blue Roan Foundation bred Ranch
horse. He has the black muzzle, black mane & tail and all black
points. He is true blue all year round. He carries the foundation
bloodlines of Baron Bell, McKeag, Joe Quincy and Sir Quincy Dan.
Blue was born
and bred on the Froelich Ranch of North Dakota. In their over 50
years of raising Quarter Horses Froelich's motto has been
"horses with disposition, colour, conformation, ranch raised in
big country." Blue definitely fits every one of those criteria
and then some. Froelich's entire program is based around their great
foundation sire, the blue roan Joe Quincy son - McKeag. McKeag is
renowned for producing big bodied horses that are still refined and
have a lot of class. They also have tremendous temperaments. Blue is
not only by an own son of McKeag but his dam traces to this great
stallion as well.
Blue's sire is
Blue Star McKeag, the stallion chosen to replace McKeag and continue
this top family of using horses. His colts are known for their easy
going attitude, tremendous bone and heavy muscle.
Blue's dam is
sired by Real Baron Jack who was bred and raised by the all time
leading breeders of AQHA Champions - the famous Pitzer Ranch. Real
Baron Jack's daughters are known for being tremendous producers, so
consequently Froelich Ranch has kept back a large number of his
daughters to stock their broodmare band. It is worth noting that
Real Baron Jack is a full brother to the AQHA Champion and Superior
Halter horse Red Baron Bell.
Red Baron Bell
is also the sire of the AQHA Super Horse and one of the all time
leading AQHA sires Mr. Baron Red.
Blue has the
real Quarter Horse head, a big powerful hip and tremendous bone. He
is very intelligent and tries to please. Blue's disposition is
absolutely second to none, they just don't come any quieter than
this stallion.
What really
makes Blue Jack McKeag stand out above the rest are the offspring
that he produces. Blue - like all the producers in his pedigree is a
very prepotent sire stamping all these characteristics into his
offspring that his family is famous for. To show our customers just
what Blue is doing we brought up two fillies by him that we are more
than pleased with.
Recently when
we were in the U.S. we saw a young stallion by Blue who had just
been sold to Mexico, they just don't make them any better. As an
added bonus Blue is a very strong colour producer, siring buckskins,
grullas, duns and every shade of roan.
We were
pleased to have the opportunity to buy this caliber of sire to add
to our stallion line-up.
This stallion
is broke to ride and has a really nice way of going. Blue has a scar
on his left front leg from when he was caught in a fence at 3 weeks
of age. This has no effect on him whatsoever and is 100% sound.
Blue will
either hand or pasture breed and he settles his mares quickly.
We really like
Blue and hate to see him go. However, we are no longer standing
stallions to outside mares. We have three stallions and just don’t
need this many to cover our own mares. Our other two stallions are
Driftwood bred and we’ve decided to go with line-bred Driftwoods.
